I was privileged to have had the honor of leading the first Apple Leadership Academy in Asia with my good friend Jessica Hale. Our second offering will be in Bangkok, Thailand March 21-23, 2025. More information here.
It was an innovative and motivated group of leaders who took on this challenge November 1-3, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Participants flew in from Hong Kong, Cambodia, South Korea, two locations in Malaysia, and as far away as Saudi Arabia! It was our hope that these leaders would finish the Academy with a solid plan for fostering innovation at their schools.
Over the three-day Academy, participants engaged in inspiring leadership discussions, defined clear school visions and strategic priorities, and focused on team building and school culture. They developed strategic plans that elevate colleague capacity, and foster community engagement. The final day emphasized effective communication through a “Community Call to Action,” practice pitches for stakeholder support, and concluded with presentations, reflections, and a celebration of innovative ideas.
There were some impressive leaders in this group and I learned so much from them throughout the three days. We discovered how diverse leadership perspectives, shaped by unique cultural and educational contexts, can lead to creative solutions for common challenges. Their insights into fostering collaboration, promoting teacher agency, and sustaining innovation within their schools inspired us as facilitators. Most importantly, we were reminded of the power of a shared vision and the energy that comes from a community of passionate, forward-thinking leaders committed to transforming education.
